Recent oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico and the Yellowstone River have caused damage to property, the environment, the ocean, and wildlife. We have witnessed tsunamis, earthquakes, and tornados as well. This year, we had droughts in the midwest of epic proportion. We are stewards of this earth; it is our responsibility to protect it for the future. I am not a die-hard environmentalist, but I do believe that everything we do leaves an impression that will be hard to erase. I try to recycle, but, then I read that it costs more to recycle because new plants/factories have to be built to take care of the waste. The headlines scream that we need to be oil-independent, but what are the alternatives? There are more of us on the planet and everyone wants a share of the planet. At what cost?
