Using the syllabus as a guide, students are to select a current event from a reputable newspaper e.g. The Wall Street Journal, International New York Times, The Financial Times, NRC. First, the topic selected should be related to HR activities (see textbook and syllabus). Second, the topic selected should be examined from an organizational perspective (e.g. merger, acquisition, downsizing, joint venture) to demonstrate application of several functions of HRM (see addendum syllabus).
Third, the student is required to explain and integrate the relevancy of job analysis for each of the selected HR activities. Fourth, students are required to provide recommendations in the conclusion of the report. In addition to the selected newspaper article, students are required to use a minimal of 4 different types of sources e.g. journal, book, internet, interview, newspaper, work experience.
Form and Style
Applying the APA manual for academic reports, the term paper will consist of: 10-12 pages for the actual text, using 12 font size; 1.5 space. Additionally, a cover page that includes title; presented by; the date; contact information, and also a reference page. Students will apply at least 5 different sources (e.g. book, journal, interview, internet, personal experience etc.).
