In the Learning Set this week, you will continue to dialogue about approaches to researching questions arising from problems or issues that interest you. 

Refer to the research question you identified in Week 1’s Learning Set. Think about how this question or similar questions arising from your research interests might be reformulated from a more quantitative orientation.

• Repeat the process you went through for the Literature Synthesis, but in more detail and focusing on questions that interest you. Consider the following questions:
• How you might formulate a research question or questions that could be addressed by one or more quantitatively-oriented research methodologies?
• How would you go about developing more specific measurements or instruments for your research? What would they be–scales, Likert items, open-ended questions, etc.?
• Is sampling required, and if so, how will you define the sample? Remember that response rate is always a major concern. How would you deal with that? If you sample, define the necessary elements of the sampling frame(s) you would need to consider.
• What other factors would you consider as you develop an approach to this research?
