It is based on a famous play written by Thornton Wilder and is thought to be one of the greatest plays in the United States. The film`s plot surrounds a story of two small families believed to live between the year 1900 and 1903. It deals with a subject of afterlife deeply and in a nostalgic way but has its ending admirably tentative. Its narration, however, might seem boring to the viewer as there is a lot of it in the movie. Despite that, the movie is very touching and emotional as well.The movie “Our town” has been given the Hollywood touch. It is a great film adaptation. The movie came out in 1940 and its lead actors include William Holden, Martha Scott, Fay Bainter, Beulah Bondi, Thomas Mitchell, Guy Kibbee and Frank Craven. It was adapted by Harry Chandlee, Craven and Wilder. The movie`s production is an outstanding work done by William C. Menzies. It is directed by Sam Wood.The movie`s genre is drama as all the happenings are dramatized versions of the play. The direction of the movie is relevant to the context, themes and plots as depicted in the movie. The director chose to portray the events in a flowing manner as transition of the movie is depicted from scenes and acts.
