The aim of this module is to equip students with knowledge in relation to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults. It will explore current definitions of safeguarding and the development of safeguarding practices in light of evolving legislation and policy guidance. Students will gain awareness of the signs, indicators, symptoms and behaviours that can be associated with safeguarding issues, and analyse the actions required to protect people who may be at risk of harm.
The main categories and impacts of different forms of abuse will be explored. Students will analyse the impact of Serious Case Reviews in relation to current and emerging practice guidance for practitioners.
The function and contributions of multi-disciplinary working in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults will be examined in the context of the integrated approach to addressing safeguarding concerns.
