What is one issue that is facing our environment right now?

The major issue facing the world today is the population surge characterized by high level of growth rates. The problem then arises since the high populations requires some level of sustainability and the world todays does not have the production capacity to cater for this high growth rise in population. Most researchers note that the world’s population might rise to about 9 billion people in 2050, which means there is need for a high production capacity that will ensure this high population growth needs are met.

What are some things that we as a society can do to solve this problem?

Three notable issues are recommended in the video How Many People Can Live on Planet Earth (FULL)to assist the society resolve this issues. The first aspect would be monitoring their consumption needs, which will allow them to produce only those products that they require. This will mean both the land and all other resources will be channeled to address their needs in food, water and energy. The second aspect that the society needs to address is to incorporate the use of technology that is in line with the problems they is undergoing. If applied effectively, technology will increase the level of productivity and efficiency. The last aspect that society needs to address is the reduction of population growth through use of contraceptives. Reduced growth will allow the society to address the needs of the already swelling demands of today’s population rather than focus on the needs of the upcoming population.
What are some things that YOU can do to help solve this problem?

I believe every individual in the society today has a role to play in addressing the productive crisis problem. Each individual should learn the necessary skills that will allow one to participate in dealing with the crisis. Further, I believe as an individual I have the duty to participate in population reduction by opting for strategies that will reduce the offspring’s I bring to this planet.
