Ivey Business Journal.In the peer-reviewed article “Compelling Visions: Content, Context, Credibility and Collaboration” by Gandz (2009), I was very much enlightened with how the author describes the concept of vision. The author unambiguously describes how a company can create a compelling vision that will actually move employees to action, focus on major priorities, change the behaviors of employees, and follow the path laid out by their leaders. Gandz (2009) provides a clear description of these points under 3 wide-ranging headings of context, content, as well as credibility. Author’s viewpoint: In the article, the author basically talks about the importance of having a vision for a company. In particular, the author talks about compelling visions, the content of visions, why a vision should be meaningful in the context of employees’ work, as well as the importance of collaboration in creating a vision. The author points out that in today’s corporate world, leaders should have a vision. He adds that there are several stakeholders who want to know exactly where their company is headed and what will make the company get there (Gandz, 2009). This point of view of the author is clear within the initial paragraph where he stated that “leaders need to have a vision”. He continues that “there are a lot of stakeholders including governments, shareholders, the media, workers and special interest groups who require to know where the corporation is going and what will get the company there” (Gandz, 2009).
