Furthermore, you must review the application of the process, procedures and documentation of the DoLS and its code of practice. Finally, adhere to the School of Health & Social Care`s guidelines on presentation and referencing and policy on confidentiality and consent.

The student will submit a 2,500-word essay based on a case study. Learners will be required to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of legislation, case law, and procedures that underpin the practice of being a Best Interest Assessor.

Introduction ➢ A good introduction will go beyond just a resume of the essay criteria. It will explain the brief/academic problem as you see it and how you intend to handle it. It should include some indication of the sources on which you draw. It tells the reader what to expect and what to look for. It is good practice to review your introduction before submitting your essay to make sure that you have done what you said you were going to do.

Assessment Criteria

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and critical understanding of law relevant to the best interest assessment.

Refer to the full range of sources of law, such as legislation and case law. Ensure you refer to up to date law, e.g. the amended and current version of the legislation; and the leading case(s). Be specific and accurate when you refer to legislation, such as by the section and whether it is an amended or additional section, sub-section, paragraph, and sub paragraph, e.g. s.1A(2)(b)(ii). Cite case law accurately, e.g. R. (on the application of CXF) v Central Bedfordshire Council [2017] EWHC 2311 (Admin). If you refer to part of a judgment be specific about the paragraph(s) you are referring to. Take great care if you summarise a piece of law in your own words. It is essential that you apply the relevant law to the scenario and put the law into context e.g. its hierarchy, its history. Don’t just describe or list the law. Describing the law does not demonstrate your ability to apply the law to the specific case scenario or present a balanced argument. At Master’s level, you should be analytical and critical in your writing.

• Demonstrate critical understanding of the importance of providing recordkeeping and reporting of best interest assessment.

Be careful and exact in your assessment of the importance of providing recordkeeping and reporting of best interest assessment. Use your learning and experience of these topics to inform this assessment. Put this in to the context of your chosen scenario. Don’t just describe record-keeping. Provide a clear and balanced argument as to why good quality record-keeping is important in the context of a Best Interest assessment process. Be specific about what is being recorded as part of a best interest assessment and how that can be used to develop your scenario. https://eat.tees.ac.uk/bbcswebdav/pid-2750513-dt-content-…t%201%20Essay%20Guidance%20Notes%20BIA%20061117.doc 04/01/2018, 18:00 Page 1 of 4

• Critically review the application of the process, procedures and documentation of the DoLS and its code of practice.

Be careful and exact in your assessment of the application of the process, procedures and documentation of the DoLS and its code of practice. Use your learning and experience of these topics to inform this assessment. Put this in to the context of your chosen scenario. Don’t just describe roles or the application of the process, procedures or documentation from the case study. Consider the key facts from the scenario and the key questions of whether the individual is deprived of their liberty, and whether it is necessary, proportionate and in their best interests. Weigh up the strengths and limitations of the DoLs process presented in the scenario. Present a critical, balanced and supported argument. A critical review of the process requires you to engage with your observations of the scenario, highlighting how effectively (or not) the DoLs is being conducted bearing in mind that you are not writing about the person conducting the process but the person for whom the process is being conducted and how they are benefiting (or not) from the process.

• Adhere to the School of Health & Social Care`s guidelines on presentation and referencing.

Referencing: You must use Harvard Referencing. Refer to the eBook ‘Cite Them Right’ on the University Library website. There are also additional guidelines/factsheets on the Blackboard site under ‘essay guidelines’. Presentation: o Use Arial or Helvetica font size 12 o Use 1.5 line spacing o Include a title page (see below for template) o Your reference list should come after the main body of the essay and before any appendices.

• Adhere to the School of Health & Social Care`s policy on confidentiality and consent.

Don’t mention where you work or name any people. Call the organisation ‘the Trust’, ‘the organisation’ etc. We should not be able to identify any individuals. If we can, you will be awarded a ‘zero’ grade. Conclusion The conclusion should not introduce any new information but should be a summary of what you have already analysed and critically reviewed that you can present as the main focus of your essay. It is the final result, a judgement reached by reasoning, or the summing up of an essay

Insta Research is a very helpful place to buy a resume in the first place. I gave them my details and did not expect that they would come up with such an exclusive design. My personality is professionally enhanced through the resume made by them. I am thankful for the depth of my heart as I would have never approached that level of excellence in my resume. Wish you good luck ahead and again thank you!
