The purpose of this element of the assessment is to provide an opportunity for you to focus on the following core skills that are needed in writing a successful legal research paper:
(i) researching a legal problem;
(ii) formulating, structuring and summarising a legal argument; and
(iii) compiling and presenting a bibliography to an appropriate academic standard
Each student will be required to write an individual research paper to be handed in at the end of the module. The specific topic is a matter of individual choice (subject to formal approval by the module tutor), but it should relate to your hot topic group work. This means that at least some of your group work will also be relevant to your research paper, but you will also have scope to focus on a more specialised aspect of it. During the hot topic SGS classes you will have the opportunity to discuss and develop your plans for writing your research paper.
