Homelessness in Los Angeles Metro

Homelessness is one notable sociology issue that is quite visible in the Metro of Los Angeles. If we are to consider the case of the metro alone there is a high number of people who are camped in different areas such as the alleys and alongside the road denoting the existence of homelessness. One wonders whether the issue of homelessness is on the rise or whether it is the lack of proper mechanism to resolve its existence. After all, why do the government and the county departments fail to consider the existence of the homeless people and find a solution to settle them ones and for all? Does the government consider querying why these people are homeless at all? Clearly, these people lack the basic amenities, and their state of being does not make the situation any better.

Interestingly, a simple conversation with the homeless people might offer some insight into why they could be homeless. In each of the explanation that they offer, they explain some of the social problems that an individual in the society today might experience such as divorce, financial crisis, job loss and many more all of which are connected to the aspect of money. If I use Karl Marx ideology to explain the issue of homelessness, I believe it would arise due to the existence of societal strata and inequalities. Karl must have thought that for the effect of these two to work there must be issues such as poverty and the existence of some form of capitalism. Capitalism was thought to lead to social inequalities but on the side of the state, these inequalities do not exist since there are no imperfections in the market, but they arise from the impact of the natural law, lack of proper administration and the factors that come into play in an individual’s private life (Frederick 21).

If thus we are to extrapolate Karl Marx Ideology, the rise of homelessness could be a depiction of the heightened state of capitalism. The second aspect the development of strata enables inequality to thrive both in the market and in the social life, which probably explains the variety of reasons that these homeless people are raising. In the end, an individual is confined to specific level and status that may escalate to poverty. Thus, unless the problem is solved quickly, the figures of homelessness will still be on the rise.

Various individuals who have been looking into this aspect have recommended several factors. The most notable being the restructuring of the whole society. Unfortunately, such a recommendation may not be a move to solve the problem. Therefore, for this case, in particular, the best solution would be to understand the issue of homelessness in depth. The government could focus on the complexities of all cases. In each, a solution could be fashioned independently, while there would be the need to establish a precedent for all the cases that have been solved to enable any future occurrence does not recur. Other aspects such as economic investment of the government by rechanneling expenditure on projects such as housing alongside proper training and a delineation of a transition phase for each case to enable them be independent would be essential. Streamlining the social service might also arise as another avenue of establishing of resolving each case uniquely rather than bundling them as a single problem.
