In the story the tailor of Gloucester, there are several pointers to the gender of the main characters. Clearly, the tailor is an old man as several statements indicate. The same aspect of using pronouns has been portrayed in indicating the gender of the cat as a he. The phrase “He lived alone with his cat; it was called Simpkin.” Indicates this (Potter 17)
All the characters that form part of the plot are active, and they carry out some significant role. The old man portrays the attributes of generosity and the essence of showing good deeds to other aspects that are around us just as he did when he released the brown mice. “stepped other and more little mice who hopped away…”(Potter 27). In return, the mice sew the waistcoat for the old man. Simpkin reflects antagonism. He is the enemy of the play.

I would expect that at the end of the play, the cat and the mice would be enemies and that both the cat and mice would never understand how the old man speaks. Anyway, the presence of such modes of communication allows the reader who is the younger generation to follow the plot.

I believe it encourages the readers to follow up on the story with much more concern on the words. In addition, the impact of the pictorial makes it easier to comprehend how different characters look like. This book fits in with 3-level mode of gender as it clearly substantiates that there is the existence of gender, and there is no limit to what each gender can do.
