Task:

Read the UBBS Case Study “Succession Success” available on BREO.
You have been asked by the Chairman/MD to write a report to the senior management team, analysing their succession options.

The MD, Clyde McPherson has planned to retire at 55.  There is no family successor.  This means the business would need to appoint an external MD or develop one from the inside.  There may be other options they had not yet considered.
As the new HR Manager, you need to provide a report to the management team;

1. Comparing and contrasting the approaches available to the company for the succession plan, using relevant strategic HR literature and examples as evidence to support your findings; and
2. Evaluate the succession plan options available and their impact on the performance of organisation, with your preferred recommendation.
