Book Review the tailor of Gloucester

Part 1

In the story the tailor of Gloucester, there are several pointers to the gender of the main characters. Clearly, the tailor is an old man as several statements indicate. The same aspect of using pronouns has been portrayed in indicating the gender of the cat as a he. The phrase “He lived alone with his cat; it was called Simpkin.” Indicates this (Potter 17)

All the characters that form part of the plot are active, and they carry out some significant role. The old man portrays the attributes of generosity and the essence of showing good deeds to other aspects that are around us just as he did when he released the brown mice. “stepped other and more little mice who hopped away…”(Potter 27). In return, the mice sew the waistcoat for the old man. Simpkin reflects antagonism. He is the enemy of the play.

The mice may be thought to be the passive of the three characters in the roles they carry out, though they directly influence how the plot flows. As such, one can consider the three categories of actors to be central, as they are visible all through the plot. They are the reason one understands the essence morals such as generosity as shown by the old man, returning the favor as the mice show and the cat being the antagonist who in the end yields to the good deed.

The book portrays gender equality. Each of the roles the characters play is unique to them. However, in exception, a lady mice leads the tailoring job that is done by the old man. The statement, “She hopped away down off the dresser, and under the wainscot,” indicates this. (Potter 24). The story does not follow a particular pattern in showing gender, since the main characters are only male. However, there is a female gender who is useful in showing a balance of roles between the two genders.

Part 2

The book shows a pattern of self-reflection and a variety of disappointments that characters in their different capacities go through. It is through self-reflection that characters realize their wrongs and the essence of giving back. Take a case of the cat who gives the cherry back.

The book is astounding in how it presents the various themes and the way the characters behave. One common pattern that has been shown by the book is through how the characters communicate. The mice are noted to hear the old man, and the old man is shown to have the ability to send the cat. “The little mice came out again, and listened to the tailor” (Potter 28). I would expect that at the end of the play, the cat and the mice would be enemies and that both the cat and mice would never understand how the old man speaks. Anyway, the presence of such modes of communication allows the reader who is the younger generation to follow the plot.

This unique way of fusing the different characters and the mode of association that is applied by the book determines the audience of the book. I believe it encourages the readers to follow up on the story with much more concern on the words. In addition, the impact of the pictorial makes it easier to comprehend how different characters look like. This book fits in with 3-level mode of gender as it clearly substantiates that there is the existence of gender, and there is no limit to what each gender can do. I would choose this book for my nephew so I would explain to them the hidden meanings of each aspect covered in the story.

My order went 3 hours late and I also went mad. Then the customer support team calmed me down and offered me a flat discount of 50%. However, I did get my order and chilled out as the work was exactly what I requested. Next time I would place my order a bit sooner to save any trouble.
